The husband of a healthy Melbourne businesswoman is accused of killing her by not getting her medical treatment after complications from dental surgery.
Duncan Tang was charged with manslaughter after his wife died in August 2006, from diabetic ketacidosis. Prosecutors claim Mr. Tang was ”criminally responsible for the death due to his complete inaction in obtaining medical treatment for his wife”.
The court heard Tang instigated antibiotics for his wife’s severe toothache on August 22 and the next day arranged to have four molars removed. The dentist twice told him to take her to the doctor, but Tang failed to seek medical treatment until it was too late.
The woman’s family claims that Tang only wanted his wife’s money and did not care for her properly.
The hearing is on going. Read the full story here.
