Dental assistant faces charges for performed dental procedures
Prosecutors on May 7 arraigned an Illinois dental assistant accused of doing procedures for which she was not licensed, along with the former director of the public health clinic where she worked, according to the Herald & Review.
Dentist Dr. Kenneth Webb and dental assistant Tamara Younker were arrested April 5, after a police investigation showed that Younker performed many tasks without a dental license, including extracting teeth and administering anesthetics. She worked under the supervision of Webb, while he was the director of the department’s dental clinic.
According to the charges filed by the Macon County State’s Attorney’s Office, their unlawful actions included: extracting teeth from nine people, including three children younger than 12; filling the tooth of three children younger than 12; administering local anesthetics to eight people, including two younger than 12; taking impressions for a denture; and providing dental services worth more than $300 to a patient without charging him, therefore stealing from the clinic.
Webb and Younker are both free, after posting $1,000 bail each.
