Dental office worker sentenced to federal prison for identity theft

Claire Batsell was sentenced 69 months in federal prison for aggravated identity theft.

Claire Batsell, 25, of Brownsville Texas, pleaded guilty to charges related to identity theft and was sentenced to more than 5 years in federal prison. She was charged with one count of fraudulent use of dental patient identification information and one count of aggravated identity theft.

From May 2006 to July 2007, Batsell took money from the dental practice and made charges on CareCredit accounts she created to cover up the money she stole. Batsell admitted to opening and using 24 fraudulent CareCredit accounts and using 12 others without patients’ authorization.

Batsell was ordered to pay $110,000 in restitution. In addition, she will serve a three-year term of supervised release.

    i don’t understand why people do such fraud the profession of Doctor is makes ones
    Smile and they are misusing that profession, how can peoples trust on them.
