How to verify your dentist’s license
Given the recent news stories about people practicing dentistry without a license (here and here), I thought it would be a good idea to review how to verify a dentist’s license. In California, you can visit the website: California State Board of Dentistry for helpful information about dentistry. On this website you can verify the current status of a California-licensed Dentist or a Registered Dental Assistant on this page. You can search by name, license number, or by city. You can also verify if your dentist has permits to do Conscious Sedation, General Anesthesia, or any other special permits required by the State Board.
Most likely your dentist does have a valid license and the required permits, but I guess it always pays to do your homework!

Each state has a website they could check for when in doubt about a particular dentist. They should really do so since it’s their dental health on the line.
