Texas dentist convicted of Medicaid fraud
David Lloyd Gonzales Jr., D.D.S., 47, was convicted by a Houston jury on 22 counts of healthcare fraud this week. The Pasadena, TX, dentist faces up to 10 years in prison after he was convicted for Medicaid fraud for submitting bogus bills for root canals, fillings, and extractions.
Gonzales began working with Medicaid in 1994, but he was suspended by Medicaid in 2005, according to the statement.
Gonzalez had been released on bond and will remain free until his sentencing hearing November 29. He could face up to a decade behind bars and faces a fine of up to $250,000.
This case was the result of the investigative efforts of the Texas Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Unit in Houston and the United States Attorney’s Office.
