If you are looking for a really inexpensive dentist, why not visit your neighbor’s garage?

Florida officials have arrested Maria Toledo, 56, for allegedly practicing dentistry in a garage she converted into an office with a drill set and back reclining chair. She was charged for practicing dentistry and dental hygiene without a license. She apparently works as a dental assistant in a local dental office, when not pulling teeth in her garage.

Police said she had a ledger containing information for hundreds of patients. Deputies said they had information she had practiced as a dentist in Mexico before moving to the U.S.

“I live right beside them, and I didn’t see any evidence of it going on,” said Theron Trimball, Toledo’s neighbor.

“I was aware that they converted their garage, I assumed it was another bedroom,” he said. “The front part of the garage was only 5 feet deep and had only lawn equipment and exercise equipment … you couldn’t see what was behind it.”

Signs your dentist might not be licensed:
1. They work in their garage
2. Their tools are made by Craftsman
3. The dental chair is a La-Z-Boy
4. The La-Z-Boy is next to the lawn mower
5. They sterilize their tools in gasoline

I don’t care what the discount is, it is not worth it!
