Woman arrested for unlicensed dental practice in home
ROSWELL, GA — Roswell police arrested 49-year-old Martha Gabi Ardilla-Ramirez on charges of practicing dentistry without a license and possession of dangerous drugs after a six month long undercover investigation.
The investigation began after neighbors complained of a high amount of traffic going in and out of Ardilla-Ramirez’s home. Over the course of the investigation, enough information was gathered to allow police to get an arrest warrant for Ardilla-Ramirez.
Lt. James McGee stated some of the instruments appeared unsanitary and that Lysol disinfectant was used as part of the cleaning process.
Police said they also found pain killing drugs used for dental procedures. Lt McGee said the woman’s patients primarily were people who did not have dental insurance and could not afford treatment from a licensed professional dentist.
Ardilla-Ramirez remains jailed without bond. Police are attempting to contact some of her former patients, estimated to be 50 to 100 people.

Unfortunately, due to the high cost of dental care, a lot of people choose to make money through this practice, which may put patients at risk rather than help them. People have to understand that if something happens to them under the care of an unlicensed dentist, no one will be able to help them. This is also the reason why the government should work on making dental care more affordable.
